Apprenticeship Day Acupuncture
FREE Apprenticeship Day Acupuncture Appointments
We offer free acupuncture appointments as part of the practical training for our acupuncture students. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity for students to observe the consultation and treatment process while allowing you to experience acupuncture free of charge.
What to expect
Your appointment will last approximately 90 minutes and take place in one of our Year 1 or Year 2 teaching classrooms, rather than in the Student Clinic. Your treatment will be carried out by one of our tutors, who is a fully qualified acupuncture practitioner.
In exchange for your free treatment, you agree to have your full initial consultation and acupuncture treatment observed by a class of up to 25 students. Students and tutors may be male or female.
Your consultation and treatment
As Traditional Chinese Medicine takes a holistic approach to health, your practitioner will ask questions about your medical history, current health, lifestyle and personal circumstances, including any factors that may affect your wellbeing. You will also be asked to complete an initial consultation form and the other documentation required for new patients.
During your treatment, the tutor may explain the reasoning behind the treatment approach to the observing students. This is an important part of their practical learning.
Your comfort and privacy
Depending on the areas being treated, you may need to loosen or remove some items of clothing. Your privacy and modesty will be respected throughout, with screens used where appropriate and only the area being treated exposed. You are welcome to bring a lightweight shawl, pashmina or towel for additional comfort.
Important information before booking
Apprenticeship Day appointments take place in our third-floor classroom. Please note that there is no passenger lift in the building, so you will need to be able to access the third floor by stairs.
Thank you for supporting the training of future acupuncturists. Your participation helps our students develop their consultation and clinical skills in a supervised teaching environment.
