This two-day workshop is designed to show all participants how to locate the source of muscular-skeletal (MSK) issues, and to demonstrate the necessary skills required to address the channel sinew system within Chinese medicine.
The channel sinews are the tendons, muscles, joints and connective tissues (including the fascia). Understanding the role played by the fascia, and pathologies of the channel sinews, is integral for pain relief, and for helping to heal MSK injuries.
James has spent 5 years researching the channel sinews, and he is now offering insight into how to address pain relief in patients.
You will learn
• How the classics describe the sinews
• What the pathways are
• How the Ling Shu classical pathologies are described
• What movements are related to each channel
• How palpation helps, and how movement and the quality of pain helps with diagnosis
• The power of Moxa cones and needling techniques
Day 1 - Morning Session
• What the channel sinews are, and their characteristics
• Yang channels - pathways, movements and pathologies from Ling Shu 13
• Yin channels - pathways, movements and pathologies from Ling Shu 13
• Distal points and selection
Lunch break 1.00pm - 2.00pm
Day 1 - Afternoon Session
• Palpations - whole hand for hot, cold, tightness, ropey, empty and fullness etc.
• Then for - index finger and thumb, limbs and back (this will include stagnation types)
• Dispersing moxibustion - hard cones
Day 2 - Morning Session
• Channel Dynamics - how they interact, with a recap of the movements
• Neck, shoulders and arms
• Lower back and hip
• Knees and feet
Lunch break 1.00pm - 2.00pm

• Distal needling
• Moxa on needle

James Woodward LicAc, MBAcC
James qualified at The City College of Acupuncture, achieving his Licentiate Diploma in Acupuncture in 2017, and his Diploma in Tui Na in 2019. He has been a body worker for 15 years, with experience in Swedish massage and aromatherapy since 2008. James is an Acupuncturist and Tui Na massage therapist who specialises in MSK issues, and he is a tutor of Acupuncture and Tui Na at The City College of Acupuncture.
